Welcome to Girlguiding Cumbria South

The countdown to the guiding centenary has begun!

Centenary launch logoGirlguiding UK celebrates 100 years of Guiding from 5 September 2009 to 20 October 2010.

Why the 5 September?

This was the date  in 1909 when a small band of girls gate-crashed the Scout rally at Crystal Palace and asked for 'Something for the girls'.

Lord Baden-Powell created the Guides and the rest is history!

From those humble beginnings, today guiding in the UK boasts over 580,000 members!

On the weekend of the 5/6 September 2009, members all around the UK will celebrate the start of the Centenary with a launch party, and here in Cumbria South we're really going to town with our launch party - our very own gig - CUMBAGIG!

Come and join thousands of Girlguiding Cumbria South members past and present celebrate what will be the start of an amazing year!

Current volunteering opportunities.....

25.03.09 Are you over 18? Live in the Windermere area?

We are looking for leaders over the age of 18 who would like to be part of Windermere Guides or Rainbows.

We are also reopening the Guide unit after Easter and the two leaders would welcome some extra help. The Rainbows have only one unit and are looking for someone to help who would like to join us to open and run a second Rainbow unit.

Also all the units in Windermere would like to invite any young people aged 14 and over to be Young Leaders.

Would like to know more, or volunteer now, click on the volunteer now button at the top left of this page.

Wherever you live in the county - we welcome your help!
