Brownies

Who are Brownies?

A girl may become a Brownie any time after her seventh birthday, and usually moves up to Guides after her tenth birthday.

What do Brownies do?

Brownies is an adventure full of fun and challenges. Brownies are encouraged to begin to make their own decisions.

Brownies can...

  • Try interest badges,

  • Go away on residential events (sleepovers, camps and holidays with their unit)

  • Take part in activities with other sections (such as Guides)

  • Learn new skills through taking part in challenges and activities with their Brownie unit.

When do Brownies meet?

The day and length of meeting varies depending on where you live. Contact us for details of your nearest meeting.

Brownies meet together in groups called units. Each unit has up to 24 girls and they meet regularly, usually once a week, sometimes in the same place as the local Rainbows or Guides. Most of the meetings take place during term time and last about an hour and a half.

What do Brownies wear?

Rainbows can choose from the range of clothing specially designed for Brownies - see www.girlguidingukshop.co.uk for details of clothing and Brownie gifts and how to buy.
