Adults

Guiding in Cumbria South couldn't happen without our fantastic adult volunteers . Whatever your skills and interests or time you can spare, we have a wide range of volunteer roles and opportunities available. These include:

Leaders and Unit Helpers - who work directly with girls and young women in the unit and receive 'on the job' training and support

Commissioners - who support leaders at a local level, are responsible for the organisation and development of guiding in their area, and are supported by a team of people.

Advisers - who use their specialist knowledge or interest in outdoor activities, craft, first aid, administration, IT, accounts or public relations.

Treasurers - to manage local finances

Unit/district administrator - help with paperwork, meetings and circulate minutes

Depot volunteers - to help run local depots which sell Girlguiding UK clothing and merchandise.

Occasional helpers - to help locally with such things such as maintenance, shopping for units, driving, or be part of a parents' rota and help run a meeting just once or twice a term.

Why volunteer?

Everyone has a different reason for getting involved, but they all enjoy helping girls and young women fulfil their potential, and becoming a volunteer with Guiding brings many practical benefits.

It can provide a break from a busy home or work schedule, a chance to expand your horizons through new activities, or give you the opportunity to share your skills and expertise, make new friends, and try new challenges.

It's fun of course! But our volunteers are surprised to find out how much the Guiding experience can help them in both their personal life and their careers.
