Have you ‘Herd’? To celebrate the beautiful county we live in there are 60 Herdys waiting to join Girlguiding Cumbria South, with thanks to Lake District National Park Authority!
The challenge is to welcome a Herdy into your unit, give Her a name and make Her an outfit (this can be as simple as a necker or a hat or as complex as a full outfit, the choice is your unit’s.)
Then take your Herdy out and about in Cumbria and take some photos, share these photos as widely as you can on social media with the hashtags #GuidesCumbriaS and #WeAreTheLakes
She could visit anywhere from Barrow docks to a mountain summit!
There’s a prize for the best photo seen by July 20.

To apply for your unit’s Herdy please send your name and unit name to email@example.com.
Herdys can be collected at the Annual Gathering 26th April, or make alternative collections arrangements when you apply.
We only have 60 Herdys so its first come first served!
Join us for our Annual Gathering and Presentation Evening where we come together to celebrate our County’s achievements.
Join us for the meal starting from 6pm, and the awards and presentations from 7.30pm.
Date: Thursday 26 April 2018
Venue: The Abbey House Hotel, Abbey Road, Barrow-in-Furness, LA13 0PA.
Cost: £10 per person for the meal and presentation, no charge if attending the awards and presentations only.

A weekend full of fun and friendship for all members of Girlguiding Cumbria South aged 16 and over, our County Weekend at Waddow Hall is the perfect chance to get to know others from around the county.
We have arranged for a super team of trainers offering first class training for both new and experienced leaders and all members.
There will also be free time on Saturday afternoon when you could try out some of the outdoor activities that Waddow, which is owned by Girlguiding UK, has to offer such as zip wire, grass sledging or crate building. Alternatively, there will be a drop-in craft session and optional training sessions available such as GO! accounts and Gift Aid; perfect if you are looking to complete your Leadership Qualification or quite simply to refresh your skills. The shop will also be open so don’t forget your cheque book!
The full cost of the weekend should be £89 per person, but to ensure that we support our Leaders, we are again subsidising the cost to members aged 16 plus, as detailed below. The cost of training is a justifiable unit expense.
Cost if you have never been to Waddow before
If you return the booking form to us by 31 December 2017, the cost will be £40. The first ten applications received will receive a grant from Waddow to cover the full cost. (Please enclose a cheque with your booking form, you will be notified and the cheque destroyed if you are within the first ten.)
Cost if you have been to Waddow before
The weekend costs £50 if we receive your booking form by 31 December 2017.
All applications received after 31 December 2017 will be £60.
Please note that if a Leader or Young Leader fails to attend, then the full cost of £89 will be charged, as we will be charged by Waddow.
Bookings are accepted by post with a completed form and cheque only.
