The Safe Space Levels 1 and 2 aims to ensure all leaders are up to date with Girlguiding Safeguarding Policy.

Training details

A Safe Space Levels 1 and 2 will run at Abbot Hall Social Centre in Kendal from 6.30pm to 9.30pm on Wednesday 22 January.

In this training you will cover how to create safe spaces, risk assessments, what to do if someone discloses that they have suffered abuse and lots more. There are hands-on practical activities, what if? scenarios and the opportunity to ask lots of questions about how to create an inclusive, safe space in your unit.

This course is suitable for:

  • Leaders
  • Leaders in training
  • Unit Helpers
  • Young leaders (aged 14 years and over, who are completing the Young Leader’s qualification)
  • Unit Residential Occassional Helpers
  • Commissioners
  • Other volunteers who need to compete Levels 1 and 2 of A Safe Space as part of their volunteer role

Book ‘A Safe Space Level 1 and 2’ training

This is for anyone leading a team of adults, leaders in charge (or at least one leader per unit with module four of the Leadership qualification), mentors, advisers, coordinators (except GO coordinators), licence holders on residentials, trainers, tutors and those doing level 4.

Training starts at 6.30pm, but please arrive by 6.15pm. Please wear uniform and bring your leadership training book if applicable.

Please note: prior to this training, you must complete the Level 3 Online E-Learning Module.

The Safe Space Level 3 course aims to ensure all leaders are up to date with Girlguiding UK Safeguarding Policy.

This course is suitable for anyone who leads a team of adults or is one of the following:

  • Leader
  • Mentor
  • Adviser
  • Coordinator
  • Leader fulfilling the role of licence holder on a residential (including those working towards the Girlguiding ‘Going Away With’ qualificiation)
  • Trainer
  • Tutor

Safe Space Level 1 aims to ensure all unit helpers are up to date with Girlguiding UK Safeguarding Policy.

This course is suitable for all:

  • adult volunteers
  • trustee, treasurer and Trefoil Guild volunteers who don’t usually have contact with girls but may attend events occassionally
  • Occasional helpers, occasional residential helpers, parent helpers and home contact
