County Team and Task & Finish Groups

County Opportunities

Find out more about volunteering with the county team or joining a task and finish group.

Girlguiding Cumbria South offers incredible activities and adventure to girls across South Cumbria week in week out. But when we get together as a county we can offer the girls, young women, and volunteers that we work with unique experiences that they will remember forever.

When we decide to do something amazing we need volunteers to help us plan and deliver what often starts as a small idea, this is done through a combination of county team roles and task and finish groups. The vacancies & opportunities available are listed at the end of this page.

Who are the County Team?

The county team is made up of volunteers just like you! From division commissioners, to outdoor activity advisors, treasurers to trainers, all these varied roles make up the team that keeps Girlguiding Cumbria South running and providing incredible experiences for our girls and young women. See below for the list of current county volunteer vacancies.

What is a Task & Finish Group?

Most county projects are delivered by a task and finish group. These groups are made up of unit leaders, unit helpers, local commissioners and county advisors and any other volunteers who wish to be involved. They get together to deliver one specific project with a start and finish rather than hold a role for a period of time. The projects range from a Brownie adventure day to creating Guiding Pom Pom sheep for a community art project, to an online camp during lockdown. These groups are some of the most rewarding and fun ways to engage with other leaders and deliver larger scale projects not normally available at unit level.

Get Involved!

Most meetings are held on Zoom making it easy for volunteers to get involved from their own homes, you don’t have to have had any experience to be in a task and finish group, enthusiasm and reliability is all you need and we love to have a mix of new and experienced volunteers in each team to get new ideas blended with what has worked well at previous events.

Take a look at the current county vacancies and task and finish groups and get involved to create amazing experiences for girls and create fun and rewarding memories for yourself!
